With the motivation of Sh. S.L. Kapoor, I.A.S. the then Deputy Commissioner of Patiala , Public College, Samana, was established in the year 1969. Under his Chairmanship, the college started providing excellent services in the field of higher education in this predominantly rural and backward area in the district of Patiala. This multi-faculty co-educational college fulfils the educational needs of about hundred villages around Samana in a radius of more than 35 kilometers and is built in a pollution free environment with sprawling green lawns. Presently, the college is functioning under the able guidance of Sh.Kumar Amit,I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner, Patiala as its Chairman.

Starting with a meager strength of 109 students in the faculty of Arts, this institution has over the years grown into a multi-faculty, huge and attractive establishment with the present strength of approximately 2500 students. Presently ,it is imparting education in the field of Arts, Commerce and Computer Science. Subjects of Home Science and Music (Vocal) were specially introduced in the curriculum of the college to encourage the girl students of the area.
